Marketing and Media Communications highlights

The academic year 2022-2023 for the BA (Hons) Marketing and Media Communications students was a dynamic and enriching experience, filled with diverse activities and guest lectures that provided invaluable insights into the industry. The program aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the ever-evolving field of marketing and media communication.

One of the highlights of the year was the client live brief in collaboration with Oasis Partnership. Students had the exciting opportunity to work on real-world projects and develop marketing communication plans for two commercial ideas as part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between BNU and Oasis Partnership. One of BNU’s Marketing lecture team members, Dr. Anh Nghiem, is the academic supervisor with well-rounded support from Francesca Martin and Anca – BNU KTP Managers successfully secured the first 24 months of the KTP project for the school, with funding worth over £150,000. The project received additional support from the Business and Management Lecture team, including Suzanne Doria and John Hathaway, as well as Associate Professor Dr. Sainey Faye, who is the Associate Head of Business and Law School.

Furthermore, the project proudly welcomed Veronica Hassan, a wonderful first-class BNU BA (Hons) Business and Finance graduate, as the Associate working in the capacity of Strategic Business Development and Innovation Manager.

This KTP project not only provided students with valuable real-world experience but also strengthened the collaboration between BNU and Oasis Partnership, effectively bridging the gap between academia and industry. With the guidance of Dr. Anh Nghiem and the expertise of all involved, students gained practical exposure, setting them on the path towards a successful career in the field of business and marketing.

Another engaging activity during the academic year was the series of guest lectures conducted by the marketing team from BNU – Charlie Raymont and Rachael Wallington. These seasoned professionals shared their expertise and shed light on the differences between working in an in-house marketing department and marketing agencies. Through their valuable experiences and case studies, students gained a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and advantages associated with both environments. This exposure broadened students' perspectives and prepared them for the real-world scenarios they may encounter in their future careers.

In conclusion, the BA (Hons) Marketing and Media Communications activities in the academic year 2022-2023 were comprehensive and diverse, providing students with a well-rounded education and preparing them for success in the competitive industry. The engagement with industry professionals, the opportunity to work on live projects, and exposure to emerging technologies have undoubtedly equipped the students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their careers as marketing and media communication professionals.
