Your Induction

Your Induction

At the start of your Apprenticeship, you will be invited to attend an induction, where you will have the opportunity to meet the Programmes Academic Team, review the programme, and ask any questions you may have on the delivery of your Apprenticeship Programme.

You will also receive your ID Badge, which you will need to access Blackboard, our Virtual Learning Environment and our IT Services.

As part of the induction, you will have a tour of the Campus with guest speakers from various services and facilities in the University to talk about the wide range of services including finance, available to all apprentices studying with Buckinghamshire New University. You will also be introduced to Functional Skills learning.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

Functional Skills are an integral part of delivering Apprenticeships. Every apprentice that is accepted onto a programme at Buckinghamshire New University but does not hold a stand-alone Level 2 qualification in maths and English (that is accepted as approved evidence by ESFA), will be required to complete their Functional Skills learning during their programme, prior to their End Point Assessment (EPA). This will be arranged on an individual basis and discussed at your induction.

However, some employers or programmes will identify prior attainment of Level 2 English and maths as an entry requirement to the programme. In these cases, apprentices must obtain these before they apply.

At the end of your induction, you will have a clear understanding of the Apprenticeship Programme and the roles and responsibilities of you – the apprentice, your employer and Buckinghamshire New University. If you have any questions regarding your induction, please contact a member of your academic team.
