Password Management

When you have forgotten your password or your password has expired and to activate your account if you are a new student.

Students: login using studentID@bucks.ac.uk (i.e. 12345678@bucks.ac.uk)

Partner College Staff: login using FirstName.LastName@partner.bucks.ac.uk (i.e. joe.bloggs@partner.bucks.ac.uk)

BNU Staff: login using BNU email (i.e. joe.bloggs@bucks.ac.uk)

 

You will be prompted to enter a code sent to your default password recovery option:

  • Students: This is pre-set to your personal email address provided to admissions for new students or at previous enrolment for returning students.
  • Partner College Staff: This is pre-set to your partner college email address.
  • Bucks Staff: You will need to set up your password recovery options.

If your self-service recovery option has not been setup, you will be unable to reset your password and you will need to contact the Service Desk at IT@bucks.ac.uk.

When you know your password and you want to change it.

On Campus or Connected by VPN

Once logged in to a University computer, press Ctrl-Alt-Del and pick the change password option.

Off Campus

Your password is set to expire every 365 days and you need to change your password before the expiry date to keep your account active. You will receive an email to warn you that your password is due to expire, please make note of it and change your password. 

 

Yes, you can change your password off-campus anytime and by using any device. Please visit the “Change your password” section.

 

Higher Education institutions are frequent targets of cyber attacks from hackers, data thieves, and cyber criminals. Hackers can break simple passwords very quickly by using advanced tools - for example, a simple password like “lighthouse”, “george” and “university” can be broken in minutes. 

In order to prevent data breach, DTS at Buckinghamshire New University recommends everyone to use complex passwords which cannot be compromised easily.
