Disability & Inclusion Services
We are here to help ensure that you get the most from your experience in an inclusive learning environment.
We are happy to discuss individual needs at any stage of your application or during your studies and if you have any difficulty in accessing the information require then please contact us.
Our team also assists with applications for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) and can provide dyslexia screening (further details are on our Dyslexia and other SpLDs page). If you have a disability* it is essential that you register with us so that you can get the reasonable adjustments to which you are entitled.

Note: unless you register with the Inclusion, diversity and disability team, reasonable adjustments (such as extra time in exams) cannot be put in place, it is not enough to declare your disability on your UCAS form, as this does not give us all the information we need.
*when we say disability, we mean any physical or cognitive impairment, medical condition, or mental health conditions, which could affect your ability to participate fully in your studies without additional support or reasonable adjustments.
You can contact us using the details below to register with us.
At your registration meeting we will discuss your disability and the reasonable adjustments required.
Please bring disability evidence to our meeting in the form of a GP letter, Diagnostic Assessment or equivalent.
Once you have registered with us we will continue to offer advice and guidance throughout your studies.
We use a disclosure agreement to ensure that information is shared with the right people to provide you with the reasonable adjustments. At your first meeting with us you will be asked to give consent to enable us to share relevant information with others.
We only contact others on a ‘need-to-know’ basis and we will normally be acting on your behalf, for example, liaising with your school or external funding bodies. Students who undertake placements on their course will have disclosure paperwork as a basis for discussion with the placement team.
We will always uphold your wishes in terms of disclosure. However, if at any time we consider you to be at risk we reserve the right to contact the emergency/medical services.
If you have any concerns regarding the level of disclosure please contact your Disability Adviser.
We are able to offer a wide range of reasonable adjustments for those with dyslexia, medical conditions, mental health difficulties and other disabilities.
Further details of reasonable adjustments can be found on our Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) page .
Our team also provides reasonable adjustments for those with temporary disabilities including injuries such as, broken limbs, which have an effect on your ability to study.
We can support students undertaking placements as part of their course with arranging ‘reasonable adjustments’ to help them get the most out of their experience. We also work with the University’s Student Opportunities and Career Success team to assist disabled students with career planning and advice.
Please see here for our Readiness to study at university document.
