Students' Union Advice Centre
Bucks Students’ Union is great for fun, friendships and finding great stuff to do. But we’re also here to lend an ear on any topic, make your voice heard on important issues – and to advise, help and support you in a wide range of ways.
However we help, we do so with the utmost tact and respect, and without judgement. Our advice is impartial and there to help you make your own decisions, and if we can’t help we’ll always look to refer you to people or organisations that can.
We offer support and guidance on all kinds of things, including:
Accommodation
We can help or advise on a range of accommodation issues, covering landlords, contracts, deposits, council tax, and even difficulties with housemates.
Your course
We can advise on course-related issues, including mitigating circumstances, appeals, complaints, academic offences and disciplinary procedures – all in the strictest confidence.
Money
It’s always better to seek help with financial problems as soon as they start, and before they worsen. You can talk to us in confidence about loans, debts, budgeting, benefits, and much more.
Legal matters
You can come to us for information on your rights and legal matters, or for help finding expert advice or even professional representation.
Personal
Life doesn’t stop at university. You can still fall ill, or fall out with partners, friends or family. You can still have a crisis, or find yourself stressed or down in the dumps. Whether it’s help or advice you need, or just an impartial ear to bend – it’s why we’re here.
International and European students
Coming from another country to study in the UK can be challenging, so we offer support and advice on things like employment regulations, academic concerns, cultural adjustment and money matters.
