Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, I was a Programme Leader for the Undergraduate Tourism Courses at the University of Wolverhampton. Prior to this, I was a Senior Lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism and a Postgraduate Course Director at Coventry University London. I have over a decade of experience in the higher education sector and a wealth of event management experience gained from the Regional Office of the National Trust and the Aimhigher Project.

My specialist area of research interest is tourism management, particularly Overtourism. Other areas of interest include Quality Assurance and Student Experience in Transnational Educational Partnerships, Widening Participation in Higher Education, Sustainable Destination Management, Heritage Tourism and Dark Tourism.

I am a Senior Fellow of the HEA and have been awarded Certified Management and Business Schools Educator status by the Chartered Association of Business Schools. I also am a member of many tourism and hospitality related professional bodies.

My specialist knowledge and experience of course design, development and approvals, and sound knowledge of quality assurance processes has led me to work with various high profile institutions as an External Advisor for the approval of new degree programmes. Furthermore, I currently hold two tenures as an External Examiner for Birmingham City University and Bangor University. My career highlight is being awarded the Coventry University Students’ Union I Love My Staff Awards two years running, which were voted for by the students and celebrated excellence in teaching.
