NAW2022: how BNU boosts business through apprenticeships

Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week 2022 (NAW2022) and we are celebrating our 849 apprentices and all the employers we work with.

The week brings together education providers, businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2022 is 'build the future' and reflects on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.

BNU has been working with employers and delivering their apprenticeships since 2018; in fact, 12% of the student body at BNU today are apprentices.

The Apprenticeship Hub at BNU works with businesses to ensure they spend their Government levy wisely and equip their staff with the skills the business wants. And apprenticeships have had a makeover - gone are the days of poorly paid apprenticeships in ‘manual-only’ jobs.

Priti Kharbanda, Head of Apprenticeships at BNU, said: “The apprenticeship sector has many offerings in construction, engineering and beyond, but there are also apprenticeships in business, nursing, digital solutions, policing and so many more.

“They offer a great earn-as-you-learn alternative for those who want to continue their education or continue their professional development. Higher and degree apprenticeships are a partnership between industry and higher education institutions like BNU. We work with them to create their training and our experts at BNU deliver the programme.  This approach provides a flexible way for their employees to take advantage of the life-changing opportunities that higher education can offer, and the employers to build their business with the skills they need.”

The number of BNU apprentices from our employee partners have grown 21% year on year and this week colleagues in the Apprenticeship Hub will be celebrating our learners and holding virtual events with employers. Keep an eye on LinkedIn to celebrate – share, like and comment!
