BNU highly commended in Green Gown Awards

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) is very proud to announce that the University was given 'highly commended' recognition in the prestigious Green Gown Awards (GGA). BNU is delighted to be the runner up in the coveted ‘Student Engagement’ award.

Judges were wowed by BNU’s nomination of the Bucks New Usage scheme – an innovative, community-conscious project in conjunction with Bucks Students’ Union, in which donated homeware items are upcycled and distributed for free to those in the local area to people who need it most.

GGA judges were especially impressed by the positive practical impacts of the New Usage scheme in the community, its ease of adoption elsewhere, and how well BNU demonstrated its method for reuse and repurpose of materials.

They were also extremely interested to hear about its practical implications for sustainable fashion and BNU students’ role in that noble endeavour.

We nominated the Bucks New Usage scheme in recognition of the great work of all those involved. We received great feedback on the scheme. The judges really liked how the project had practical impacts, could be easily adopted elsewhere, and how well we show how materials were reused and repurposed.

They were also extremely interested to hear about our students' works on sustainable fashion and how Bucks New Usage could help.
