Biography

I joined Buckinghamshire New University in 2014 and am the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Textile Design and BA (Hons) Fashion & Textiles degree programmes. Before leading these courses, I worked as a Technical Tutor and Specialist Knit Technician both here and, prior to that, at Central Saint Martins, where I studied for my BA in Textile Design, I am also a fellow of the HEA.

Although my skills and knowledge span across the range of textile processes and techniques that we cover on the courses here at BNU – print, knit and surface design – my specialism is knitwear and I worked within this area of the industry as an independent, freelance designer. My specialist knowledge has lead to me to work collboratively with a number of designers – Grace Wales Bonner, Jigsaw, Lucas Nascimentio and Anthony Symonds amongst other – developing knitted fabrics for production.

Since working in education my area of research as broadened to encompass sustainable material developments within textile design and I am currently working towards creating an innovative sustainable material research hub here at BNU for both our students and wider industry engagement.
