Paul Cartlidge

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, I lectured at Coventry University across their Event Management and Sport Management courses. Before I came to academia in 2016 I had spent a number of years working in global touring production, for artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Nitro Circus, and Motörhead.

Though my background is in music I have a wider interest in the arts and entertainment, especially in their ability to generate societies with empathy. I am still active creatively, but am more engaged with the written word, with a number of works in progress.

I have a master’s degree in International Event Management and am a Fellow of the HE Academy.

I am also director of a UK business with interests in live event production, and in 2022 provided services for artists such as Guns n Roses, The Killers, Iron Maiden, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga.
