Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2024, I was a doctoral candidate and Teaching Associate at the School of Education, University of Exeter. I taught various modules for the MA International Education and MEd TESOL programmes.

I studied for my PhD in Education at the University of Exeter, and my MSc in TESOL at the University of Edinburgh. My specialist areas of research include teacher education (e.g., teacher cognition and teacher knowledge) and second language (L2) education (e.g., L2 learning motivation and L2 writing). These fields offer insights into how teaching practices and language learning can be optimised to enhance learning outcomes and global communication.

I am an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).

My specialist knowledge has led me to ongoing collaborate research projects with scholars across various cultural and educational contexts, such as Dr. Nicholas Bremner from the University of Exeter (UK) on a project of introducing a novel reflective practice tool for language teachers, and Dr. Yiyin Wang from Quzhou University (China) on our current project investigating the use of generative AI in L2 writing education.

My career highlight to date is my ongoing research and publication on teacher education and the use of generative AI in education. This work stands out as it not only contributes to the foundational knowledge and support systems for emerging educators, but also pioneers the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies to revolutionise teaching methodologies and learning experiences.
