Magdalena Mosteanu

Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2022, I was working as a sessional lecturer at FTTv, University of Reading. Prior to this, however, I worked in the theatre industry in Poland as an assistant director and actor in Teatr Polski in Warsaw, The Coastal Theatre and Baltic Opera in Gdańsk.

I studied for my MA in Collaborative Theatre-Making at Coventry University and for my MA in Acting at Giedroyc College of Communication and Media. My specialist area of interest is cross-cultural theatre and performance practice. In my research, I set out to investigate and probe new approaches to cross-cultural performance through critical engagement with ethical frameworks inspired by feminist thought, The Third Space Theory, and cultural nomadism. My most recent practice encompasses directing (Performing Endometriosis by V. Rodriguez), facilitation of theatre research workshops (Cross-cultural Workshop Group at BNU) but also theatre in prison (Jubilo Foundation) and performing (Wretched Theatre).
