Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, I worked at Buckinghamshire Council as a Social Work Quality Assurance Lead.  My main duties in this role included leading on the ASYE programme, moderating cases to ensure quality and consistency of practice, and delivering training sessions to social workers and managers.  I am also a qualified Practice Educator and have supported students on their journey to becoming social workers. which is where I discovered my passion for mentoring others.

I have always been fascinated by human behaviour, which led me to study Psychology at university. In 2004, I completed a BA in Developmental Psychology at Sussex University and went on to complete an MA in Social Work at Middlesex University in 2011.

I have been a qualified social worker for over a decade and have experience of working with children, families and adults in a variety of settings. I am registered as a social worker with Social Work England. I previously worked as an Advanced Practitioner working with adults in the long-term and review team at Buckinghamshire Council.

I have a long-standing interest in developing research-based practice, with a particular interest in supervision, as a core component of social work.  The knowledge, skills and experience I have acquired as a front-line social worker and Social Work Quality Assurance Lead is my greatest asset and has put me in a good position to support the next generation of social workers.
