Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2005, I travelled widely and worked in the sport and leisure industries, gaining experience developing a range of service products in partnership with business owners and management teams. Amongst other endeavours, I have developed the UK market for a New Zealand based motion analysis software start-up, designed international facilities and academy operations with a USA sports management group, received player sponsorship from a large UK accountancy firm specialising in cultural assets and have taken on executive board director responsibilities in professional development for a national sports association.

I am a member of the Higher Education Academy and hold two master’s degrees - LLM Sports Law from De Montfort University, and MSc Sports Science and Coaching from The University of Edinburgh. My specialist area of interest and research is the professionalisation of sport, which I find interesting because sport and associated industries are changing in ways that are creating opportunities for knowledgeable and skilful people and organisations.

One of my career highlights to date was being asked to write a chapter in the book ‘Golf Business and Management: A Global Introduction’. I enjoyed the creativity it afforded me and seeing my thoughts published. As a result, I was invited to be a reviewer for the German Journal of Exercise and Sport Research.
