Enrolment for apprentices

Enrolment for apprentices

Follow these instructions if you are a student studying on an apprenticeship course at BNU

If you are a non-apprentice, Research, CPD or International student on a student route visa, or studying with one of our partner institutions, please go back to the main page and find the relevant link.

You must read all instructions before you access the BNU Connect system and complete your online enrolment.

You must enrol for each year of study on your course and you will be invited to enrol when your enrolment record is ready.

If you have not already done so:

  1. Set up a username, password and Multifactor Authentication by following these instructions.
  2. Then access the enrolment form.

Please note: the enrolment task will only be available to you for a limited time. Once you have submitted the enrolment form you will receive an email confirming successful submission of the enrolment form. You can check on the form summary if the status is listed as SUBMITTED.

Why you need to enrol?

Completing online enrolment (before you arrive) will mean you will gain access to your timetable and mean that we can get all your University systems in place. Once you have set up your IT account and enrolled you will be able to access the MyBNU portal and your timetable will be there once ready.

How to enrol

Enrolment is a two-stage process (for new students) to register as an official BNU student. Enrolling at the right time is important as it unlocks things like access to online resources.  If you are a returning student, you only need to complete Stage 1.

  • Stage 1: Online enrolment (before you start classes)
  • Stage 2: New apprentices only - document checks (when you invited for induction)

You will receive an email with full instructions on how to enrol through BNU Connect between 24 to 48 hours after your student record has been updated or your place has been confirmed.

All students need to complete the following:

  • Confirm/update your enrolment record details
  • Upload a copy of your valid passport – the page of your passport that contains your photograph, full name, date of birth, issue/expiry date (often referred to as the 'biometric page'). The following formats are accepted – JPEG, Adobe PDF or Microsoft documents saved as a .docx or .xlsx format.

OR if you do not have a valid passport,

UK nationals

  • Should provide birth/adoption certificate and proof of your National Insurance Number). N.B. Driving Licence will not be considered as proof of identity.
  • Proof of your name change if not reflected in the above documentation, for e.g. Marriage Certificate.

Non-UK national

  • EU or EEA Nationals can provide their EU or EEA National Identity Card as well as bring in proof of your Settled or Pre-settled status (if permanently living in the UK).
  • Non-EU or non-EEA nationals – can provide their National Identity Card

For apprentices you will need to complete registration on Aptem (the Learner Management System) and you will need to ensure that your Proof of Identity has been confirmed. This will either be done by your employer, as part of the admissions process with BNU or during your induction with BNU. You will be notified when this will occur so please ensure your contact details - postal and email - are up to date on when completing your enrolment process.

Tuition fee payment

As an apprentice student your fees will be paid directly to the University so please just select Apprentice under the Tuition Fees section on the enrolment form.

Please note you must complete enrolment within two weeks from when you commence your course, or you may not be allowed to enrol.
