Your IT account

Your IT account

All registered Students are given their own University IT account.

Your account will provide you with access to email, file space, Blackboard e-learning portal, Microsoft Office 365 and other useful University resources.

You must abide by the University's IT Regulations for the use of computer hardware and software.

New students - setting up your account
Welcome to Buckinghamshire New University!

To get started with the IT services at BNU, it’s really important to activate your account by setting up your password. This is applicable to all BNU students, including partner college students.

Your Username

Your username will be your student ID number followed by @bucks.ac.uk: e.g. 20905674 @bucks.ac.uk

This will be your username for all IT services (logging into systems, online e-learning, etc.).

Note: You will need your IT credentials in order to enrol online as a new student. We will send you an email when you are able to enrol so that you can activate your account. If you try and access your account prior to that, your credentials won’t be recognised

Your Password

You must set up your password yourself by using the University’s self-service password reset portal.

Go to https://mypassword.bucks.ac.uk and follow the instructions under reset your password section.

Once your password is set, you are ready to use your IT account. You can use your account details to connect to Wi-Fi and use other university IT resources.

If you have difficulties in setting your password, please contact IT Service Desk.

Multifactor Authentication

Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is a process that helps to keep your University account safe by ensuring that only you can log in to it.

It requires you to provide additional information, such as a code, to authenticate your identity when logging into the University’s IT services.

Please click here for a step-by-step guide on how to register for MFA and to read our FAQs.

Returning students

Usernames, passwords and e-mail addresses for returning students will remain the same as last year.

If you have forgotten your password, you can change your password.

You are also required to register for multi-factor authentication (MFA), a security feature that helps to keep your University account safe by ensuring that only you can log into it. You must register for MFA to access the University’s IT services.

Please click here for a step-by-step guide on how to register for MFA and to read our FAQs.

If you have difficulties logging in or registering for MFA, please contact IT Service Desk.

Leaving students

All coursework left on your G drive will be deleted one year after you graduate, so please make sure to save any files you might need to in your personal devices.
