Freshers' week
Freshers' week
Everyone at university looks forward to freshers’ week, whether you’re a fresher or not. Here at BNU, we do everything just slightly extra, so our fresher’s week turned into freshers’ fortnight.
Over these two weeks, the Bucks Students’ Union organise many activities to get the University community engaged together and meeting new people. And the Union recognise the fact that sometimes the University night life may not be appealing to every student, and they take this into consideration when planning events and activities. So, if you are one of those people who, especially mid/post-pandemic is sitting there thinking “clubbing and the night-life isn’t for me, how am I going to find a group of friends for me”, BNU offer more relaxed general activities including things like comedy club night, pub quiz night, film nights and even an animal petting zoo.
At the end of a fun filled two weeks of events, there is a three day Freshers’ Ball event to officially end the celebrations and start the University year. This year the events included a 90’s themed throwback club night on the Friday followed by a dress to impress event on the Saturday. If you managed to survive both nights, Sunday morning concluded the event with the Students’ Union providing students with a brunch menu to cure their hangover.
There’s always something at freshers’ fortnight for you to get involved with, so grab your friends and let your hair down before university starts.
