Discover more about global variations in hospitality careers at inaugural lecture
The latest in our inaugural lecture series will see Professor Lisa Wyld explore how hospitality careers develop in different contexts and why they are valued differently around the world.
In Global Variations in Hospitality Careers: A Bourdieuian Perspective, Professor Wyld draws on the work of French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu to explore how social structures, personal background and institutional practices shape careers in hospitality, and why they hold varying levels of prestige and recognition across the world.
Professor Wyld is Associate Dean (Education) in the College of Leadership and Innovation, co-founder of Hospitality and Universities United (HUU), and a recognised leader in hospitality education.
Inaugural lectures are a celebration of our academics’ research excellence and contributions to their fields. They offer the University community an opportunity to come together to recognise colleagues who have achieved the distinguished title of Professor.
Join us from 4pm on 4 March in the Gateway Lecture Theatre. Everyone is welcome and lectures are free to attend. If you would like to attend, please register your attendance here.
Each event is recorded and can be viewed in the series link on the bucks.ac.uk/inaugural-lecture-series
