Why I love BNU

Why I love BNU

Is it the range of opportunities on off? Or the outstanding Students’ Union? It could even be the industry-standard facilities? Read on to find out more!

Reason 1

BNU is a small university. While there are many benefits of going to a large university, the feeling of community that a small university comes with is incomparable. Almost every time that I have been walking to class, I will always bump into somebody I know. The smaller class sizes are a plus. I never realised how valuable it would be to have a good relationship with my lecturers. My education has become more personal, and my lecturers have understood more about the way that I learn. It is nice to know more than just my classmates’ names too. When we do group work it is great to be working with people you really know.

Reason 2

The Students’ Union. Thanks to The Big Deal that BNU offers, we as students get free access to events and entertainment, competitive and recreational sport, CV building activities and the societies. One of my favourite events that take place in the venue is Bingo Lingo. This involves drinking, bingo, entertainment, music and some very useful prizes!

Every time that I have been everyone has had a laugh. With all the recreational activities being free, this allowed me to carry on with what I enjoyed doing back at home and it even allowed me to try out some new stuff! I have made some great friends that I would not have made ordinarily. BNU offer a range of different societies for everybody. From roller-skating and boxing to DJ and chess and many, many more.

Reason 3

My course is one of my favourite things about BNU. I am in my first year of BA (Hons) Interior and Spatial Design at Buckinghamshire New University and the opportunities are countless. I have learnt the use of freehand drawing, model making, object fabrication, technical drawing, 3D modelling and digital visualisation. In this course as well as many courses, I have had to do presentations in front of my peers as part of my course work and this has really boosted my confidence. BNU have digital suites which have allowed me to learn with Rhino, Auto CAD, Photoshop and InDesign. BNU also offer state-of-the-art facilities such as wood and metal workshops, laser cutting and even 3D printing. This has allowed me to use a range of materials when completing my work and helping me to create it to the best of my ability.

Reason 4

BNU also offer a Students' Union Advice Centre. They can help with things such as: accommodation, your course, money, legal matters, personal issues and help for international and European students. In whatever way that you may need help they do it with upmost respect and with no judgement.
