10 reasons why you should study Nursing at BNU

10 reasons why you should study Nursing at BNU

We have a long history of training nurses and giving them the knowledge and practice-based experience they need to provide excellent patient care. If you’re thinking about studying nursing and considering your options, here’s just a few reasons why we think we should be your top pick!
1. Student satisfaction

We’re proud to say that our nursing courses are in the top 10 in London and the South East for student satisfaction according to The Complete University Guide 2022.

2. Employment

Across the University, we have a strong focus on helping our students to be in the best position to enter the world of work. 96% of BNU graduates are in employment, conducting further study, volunteering, travelling, or caring for others 15 months after graduating (HESA 2023).

3. State-of-the-art simulation facilities

Across our Uxbridge and Aylesbury campuses, students have access to outstanding simulation facilities to put their theory into practice.

We have adult and paediatric simulation labs, as well as mock operating theatres, counselling rooms and so much more to replicate the vast settings that nurses operate in.

4. Teaching excellence

Our highly experienced lecturers maintain close links to practice to help ensure that our teaching is current and in-line with practice today.

This, in combination with our great facilities and graduate outcomes, led towards us being awarded Silver in the most recent Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF 2018).

5. Locality

All of our nursing programmes are based out of our Uxbridge Campus, located in West London, with some also being delivered in our Aylesbury Campus just outside of the capital.

Both campuses come with great transport links and a whole host of things to do right on your doorstep.

6. Support on placement

We think it’s really important to ensure you keep a close connection with us during your time out on clinical placement.

We are one of the only universities that have practice visitors come out and see you during this time, helping to ensure you’re fully supported.

7. Student success

8. Award winning

We have won various awards over the years at the Student Nursing Times Awards, most recently one of our mental health nursing senior lecturers, David Rawcliffe, won Educator of the Year.

9. Supportive

We understand that University can be a challenging time for some, so we have created a vast support package for our students.

Our Student Hub provides a central point for students to get key information on many University services including our free, confidential Counselling Service, our Disability Service, the various bursaries and grants that BNU offer and more.
