Biography
  • I am a national leader in Higher Education pedagogy and practice. I am a National Teaching Fellow (NTF2019) and Principal Fellow of Advance HE (2024), and winner of multiple national and international teaching awards. I work with the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), Royal Society of Biology (RSB) and Society of Experimental Biology (SEB) to enhance educational practice, with a particular emphasis on inclusive education.

I have led national projects to enhance higher education. Most notably, I led a QAA funded collaborative enhancement project to generate an Inclusive Higher Education Framework, a collaboration between seven institutions. I also co-founded the Bioscience Educators Network, a national peer support network of over 100 members to support education focussed academics with career development.

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2025, I was a Reader in Bioscience Education at the University of Hull, where I was also Director of Studies for the School of Natural Science. I was also a Senior Fellow of the University of Hull Teaching Excellence Academy, where I developed the institutional inclusive education framework. Prior to this I was a research scientist and PhD in the field of plant biology.

My research focusses on inclusive pedagogies, equity of student outcomes and effective engagement of students with research-led teaching. For my full publication record please see my GoogleScholar and ORCID profiles.
