Biography
  • I commenced my academic career at Buckinghamshire New University in 2019, following a rich and varied clinical background. Before this, I held the position of Practice Development Nurse (PDN) at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust, where I led education and workforce development across six specialist clinical areas. This role refined my ability to promote clinical excellence, support professional growth, and deliver high-impact, practice-based education tailored to the evolving needs of healthcare professionals.

My academic background is multidisciplinary, initially grounded in the biological sciences. I hold a BSc and MSc in Human Genetics and Human Biology, and later transitioned into the field of nursing, completing both my Undergraduate Nursing and MSc in Advanced Practice Nursing at Buckinghamshire New University. I then completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, which led to my recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), acknowledging my sustained commitment to excellence in teaching and learning within the higher education sector.

In support of my clinical and academic roles, I have also undertaken a suite of specialist postgraduate qualifications, including Infection Control Principles and Practice; Clinical Haematology; Care of the Patient Requiring Chemotherapy; Care and Management of Persons with AIDS; Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice (ENB 998) and Diploma of Higher Education in Cancer Care.  These qualifications have equipped me with the knowledge and versatility to contribute meaningfully to both clinical education and academic scholarship.

As an educator, I am committed to delivering high-quality, research-informed teaching that fosters critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and reflective practice. I strive to create inclusive and intellectually stimulating learning environments where students are empowered to reach their full potential. Beyond teaching, I am deeply invested in pastoral support, recognising the complex personal and professional challenges students may face throughout their academic journey.

I am currently engaged in doctoral research focusing on the placement experience of undergraduate nursing students. This research aims to inform and enhance the quality of clinical education and improve student outcomes through more effective academic and practice partnerships.

Since joining BNU, I have been honoured with several prestigious accolades that reflect my sustained dedication to student success and educational leadership. These include Outstanding Lecturer Award, Most Inspiring Tutor Award, and Finalist for the Best Educator of the Year (Nursing Times Awards).

My overarching academic and professional goal is to contribute to the development of competent, compassionate, and resilient nurses who are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of healthcare delivery.
