Suraj Mashru's story

Suraj Mashru's story

I am proud to be a BNU Alumnus and to be able to provide current students with the same opportunities which I had as a student. Bucks has really developed its syllabus well and is in tune with the demands of the industry.

Suraj, one of our Public Relations and Marketing Communications graduates, recently shared with us his experience as a member of the Bucks family.

Suraj can now be found making waves in his career as EY Global’s Media Relations and Social Media, Assistant Director.  He shared that BNU helped prepare him for the transition from student to employee. “The Bucks team could not have done more to prepare me for the professional world. From the moment I started, I was told that in order to be successful, I needed more than just a degree. I worked with the Bucks academic team to source an internship which gave me experience so valuable, that even today as a senior member of EY’s global comms team, the learnings from it come in useful.”

Like a lot of our current and graduate students, Suraj mentioned his university experience sealed a relationship with Bucks that remains as strong as ever. “I found the staff at Bucks extremely friendly and approachable, but more importantly, they’re undoubtedly committed to the success of their students. Even as an alumnus, lecturers remain in touch and I’ve been able to support the team by giving tours around my place of work, and in some cases, coming to the campus to present about the life of a PR professional.”

Although Suraj initially found it challenging to adjust to university life he says after three years with BNU “I don’t think there was anything which I disliked. The campus was a comfortable place to work and support was always on hand when needed. External senior speakers regularly gave workshops and talks which was great for networking and also beneficial when it came to finding a job at the end of my degree. I genuinely had a great time at Bucks and was sad when it ended.”

At Bucks we are proud of all the students who come through our doors and choose to study and grow with us. Suraj finished up by saying “I am proud to be a Bucks Alumnus and to be able to provide current students with the same opportunities which I had as a student. Bucks has really developed its syllabus well and is in tune with the demands of the industry.”
