Spring Graduation: Visas

Spring Graduation: Visas

Please note that the information below is regarding Spring 2026 graduation.

If you are an overseas student and require a visa to enter the UK, or if you intend to invite guests from overseas who will need a visa to enter the UK, you will need to request a visa support letter.

To do so, please:

  1. Book your student ticket via Ede and Ravenscroft

Tickets for graduating students can be booked via the Ede and Ravenscroft website by 4pm, Monday, 9th of March

  1. Book tickets for your guests (if required) via Ede and Ravenscroft

Tickets for guests can be booked by the graduating student via the Ede and Ravenscroft website by 4pm, Monday, 9th of March

  1. Pay for all tickets during the booking process
  2. Fully and accurately completed the visa support letter request form

Please note that any errors included in the visa support letter request form will delay the issuing of the visa support letter.

  1. Fully and accurately complete the form and email it to graduation@bnu.ac.uk.

We are not able to issue a visa support letter if you have not booked your tickets.

We will complete visa requests for eligible students. This means the student has either successfully completed and been awarded, or is currently due to complete and be awarded, at an upcoming exam board in time for the graduation ceremony.

Once your visa request letter has been completed, you will be emailed a letter on University headed paper, addressed to the relevant British High Commission or Embassy (based on the details provided by the graduating student so please ensure they are accurate).

If the visa letter request form relates to your guests, you will need to please pass it on to them as we cannot send it directly to them. Please be aware that the names of individual guests will not be included on the supporting letter we provide.

We aim to send the letter out within 10 working days of the form being received but please note this may be delayed during our busier periods.

Please allow plenty of time for your visa request to be processed by the High Commission or British Embassy. We recommend you book your tickets and request this letter as soon as possible but please note we cannot guarantee the turnaround time of the High Commission or British Embassy.

The University is not responsible for ensuring that your visas are sorted out in time for you and your guests to attend your graduation ceremony as this responsibility is with the graduating student. The University is also not responsible for covering any of the costs involved in the visa acquiring process.
