The MA Education course caters to diverse professionals. For those without an existing teaching qualification, the MA Education includes face-to-face study in the first year, before moving fully online in the second year. As qualified professionals, students learn not only from our teaching-informed tutors but also from their peers, who share their knowledge, experience, and practice in real-time, creating rich cross-cultural learning experiences that build lifelong connections with fellow educators from a range of sectors.
This programme is also available as a full-time one-year programme for those looking to launch a career in education or academic research, the full-time route offers an intensive and immersive experience. However, due to its demanding schedule, it is not suited to those with full-time work commitments.
Our part-time pathway is ideal for working professionals, providing the flexibility to balance study alongside other responsibilities. What are the course entry requirements?
The University’s General Entry Requirements will apply to admission to this programme, with applicants typically having a minimum of a 2.2 degree in any subject, with an interest in pursuing a career in education.
It is also expected that those on the MA Education Advanced Standing are in full or part time work to ensure that they have opportunities to apply programme learning within a relevant professional context.
If you do not meet the entry requirements you may, if you have relevant professional experience, still be invited for interview, where you will be required to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and understanding for entry onto the course.
Previous study, professional and / or vocational experiences may be recognised as the equivalent learning experience and permit exemption from studying certain modules in accordance with our accreditation of prior learning (APL) process.

What are the tuition fees

Home, Academic Year 2026 - 2027: £6,065 per year *
Following the Government’s announcement of 4 November 2024, we will be increasing our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK students to £9,535 per year from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Our part-time fees for UK undergraduate students will increase to £7,145 per annum. Please visit The Education Hub, on the Government’s website, for more information about the changes.
Tuition fees for Home undergraduate students (including with foundation year) may increase in subsequent years for both new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the Government.
Tuition fees for both new and continuing international students may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year.
Tuition fees for postgraduate courses and CPD may be subject to an inflationary increase based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the 12-month period to 31 January each year. This increase will apply to both new and continuing students.
