This BSc (Hons) Professional Practice (Healthcare) is a flexible programme designed to enable suitably qualified and experienced practitioners to 'top up' a Level 5 qualification to a degree, through a number of different specialisms.
Each module is awarded a number of credits and can be studied on a stand-alone basis, providing greater flexibility when working towards the BSc (Hons) qualification.

What will I study?
The course requires you to complete a total of 120 credits at Level 6, typically from four 30 credit modules. You can choose the modules you wish to study from a number of options, depending on your study interests or the specialism you wish to follow. Specific content will depend on module choice.
For the default Healthcare specialism, only the final Dissertation module is core.
For the Nursing specialism you need to have an NMC qualification but only the dissertation module is core.
For all other specialisms you need to complete the core module, and your dissertation should focus on the core subject. For example for the Cardiac Care specialism you will do the Cardiac care module, 2 x optional modules and a dissertation focussing on cardiac care.

How will I be taught and assessed?
A variety of teaching methods are used throughout the programme including; practical workshops, seminars, lectures and simulation. A virtual learning environment (VLE) will support you with online learning and enhance face-to-face teaching. Independent study is expected under the guidance of the module teacher and includes wider reading, preparation for lectures and planning to prepare for assignment submission.
At BNU, we recognise roles in this field are hands-on – that’s why you’ll take part in simulated learning experiences using our specialised facilities dedicated to nursing at our Uxbridge campus.
What are the course entry requirements?
A typical offer will include at least 120 credits at level 5, evidence of clinical experience and candidates will need to be working in a relevant area of health care practice.
Students choosing the modular option who intend to complete this degree programme can only use a maximum of 60 credits as Accredited Prior Certificated Learning (APCL). For those students wishing to use credits from other universities, only 60 credits can be used as Accredited Prior Learning (APL). Students will choose from a portfolio of modules or short courses available.
