Biography
  • Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, I spent 18 years as a commercial airline pilot, flying the Airbus A320, A321, and A330 across Asia for carriers including Cathay Dragon and Hong Kong Airlines. I have accumulated more than 10,000 hours on Airbus jets. Alongside my operational flying career, I gained extensive experience in line training, crew resource management, and safety culture, which shaped my transition into aviation education.

Qualifications
  • My academic background began with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I initially worked in the banking sector in foreign exchange and derivatives operations at the Treasury Centre of Bank of China (Hong Kong).

In 2002, I joined the Cathay Dragon Cadet Pilot Programme and completed my ATPL and flight training in Adelaide, Australia. From 2003 to 2017, I flew with Cathay Dragon, and subsequently continued my flying career with Hong Kong Airlines until 2022, operating the Airbus A330 on regional and long-haul routes.

Research Interests/Academic Interests
  • My primary academic interests include Human Factors in aviation, Crew Resource Management, safety culture, safety investigation methodologies, and the integration of pilot training within higher education frameworks. At BNU I teach across several aviation programmes and lead the development and delivery of the integrated pilot training pathways in collaboration with our partner training organisation.

My career highlight is drawing on 18 years of commercial flying experience to support the professional development of aspiring pilot students, integrating real-world airline operations, contemporary safety thinking, and regulatory knowledge into higher education teaching.
