Dr Johnny Issapour

I have worked in the Higher Education sector for 22 years in a number of different roles and joined Buckinghamshire New University in September 2021.

Since 2010, I was the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) / MA Special Effects degree programme at Solent University (formerly Southampton Solent University). Prior to this I was the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) DipHE Special Effects at the University of West London. I also work as a freelance animator, animatronics designer, skin fabricator and props maker within the SFX Film and TV production industry sector.

I studied for my PhD in Animatronics Design at London South Bank University (first PhD study in this field in the world) and my specialist area of interest/research is animatronics, animation, prosthetics design & fabrication, special/ visual effects and special effects props & model fabrication.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with the most talented people working within in the creative industry and apply within the Higher Education sector. I am experienced in designing and developing innovative specialist courses that complements the curriculum and satisfies the demands of the creative industries.
