Biography

Before joining BNU in 2021, I worked for a number of years as a speaker, trainer and consultant in wellbeing, with a particular focus on wellbeing in education. I had also done some freelance post-graduate lecturing in Positive Education on behalf of Professor Ilona Boniwell in Paris and Singapore.

A qualified teacher (secondary education), I left the teaching profession in 2002, but have since returned to the classroom as an occasional Supply Teacher alongside my other work, to keep my teaching experience current.

Having a keen interest in Positive Psychology, I completed an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at Anglia Ruskin University in 2019, following which I embarked on a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at the University of Derby, which I anticipate completing between 2025 and 2027.  My research topic is Co-creating whole school wellbeing: An exploratory case study into the use of Appreciative Inquiry in a UK school to formulate a collaborative strategy and action plan for whole school wellbeing”.

I am passionate about promoting wellbeing in education, particularly through the adoption of whole school approaches.  For my MAPP dissertation, I developed the LeAF (Learn and Flourish) Model of Whole School Positive Education
