Biography
  • Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2019, I was working as a Practice Development Nurse for Medicine in the NHS, before that I worked in acute medicine as my first role after qualifying from BNU in 2016. Prior to that I worked as a Personal Assistant in the City and before that I was a Secondary school Music teacher. I recently was part of a team that developed the new Nursing Associate Apprenticeship course for the university which was successfully validated by the NMC in August 2025. I currently lead the College Neurodivergent Network.

Qualifications
  • I studied for my first degree in Music at University of Reading then PGCE (Secondary Music) at Reading. My 2nd Degree, BSc Adult Nursing, and all subsequent degrees, PgCAP and MSc Mental Health and Wellbeing in Education, have been studied at Buckinghamshire New University. I am just about to begin my PhD studies looking at retention of Neurodivergent Nursing Students through their lived experiences.

Research Interests/Academic Interests
  • I have interests in Neurodivergent Conditions, Medications Management and Healthcare Numeracy. It is interesting because personal experience and understanding on Neurodivergent conditions in healthcare workers is my chosen research subject for my PhD studies.

I am currently writing a book on Medicines Management aimed at first year nursing students and have successfully changed the way healthcare numeracy and medicines management is taught and assessed in the Nursing cluster, both Nursing Associate modules I designed had 100% pass rate due to the authentic nature of the assessment.  I am hoping for similar success with the Medicines Management module I am currently writing for the year 3 of the BSc nursing courses.

External Positions/Memberships
  • I am a Fellow of Higher Education Academy and a registrant on the NMC register. I also am the SEND Governor for Loudwater Combined School.

Projects
  • am currently working on an article exploring academics with ADHD and the stress of assessing academic coursework and OSCEs in collaboration with my colleague Jordan Hodge, we are looking at the challenges faced by them and ten top tips for success.
