Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in September 2023, I studied for my BSc (Hons) in Midwifery at the University of West London, training within Frimley Health Foundation Trust. Since registration with the NMC, I have worked in all areas of Midwifery before settling in Postnatal Care where I became a Lead Midwife. I have had the privilege of working in partnership with women and their families, welcoming their new babies and watching families grow.

I have a passion for supporting mental health and individuals with a specific learning difference in pregnancy, working with multi-disciplinary teams for a positive conclusion to the family’s birthing journey. Part of this experience led me to focus on Birth Trauma - its impact on the individual and their families and vicarious trauma suffered by staff in the clinical workplace; subsequently I achieved qualification as a Birth Trauma Counsellor, based on Human Givens psychology and specialising in the Rewind Technique.

Throughout my years of practice I have gained immense satisfaction from teaching Midwifery Students in the clinical environment. Teaching and watching students learn, grow and flourish into compassionate, knowledgeable carers has led me now to pursue a career in teaching them from the very beginning of their journey – one I am very proud to be a part of.
