Biography
  • I joined Buckinghamshire New University full-time in 2025, following 18 months as an Associate Lecturer in Voice and Singing. For over 20 years, I’ve worked as a self-employed singing and woodwind teacher, supporting performers across the musical theatre industry and teaching at institutions such as LAMDA.

Alongside this, I’ve spent the past decade as a senior facilitator at an independent performing arts school, delivering training in singing and drama. My professional experience also includes roles as Musical Director and multi-instrumentalist pit musician for a wide range of youth and adult productions. Earlier in my career, I performed extensively, both locally and internationally, in large choral works for BBC Wales, cabarets with principals from the Royal Opera House, top West End musical directors, and other leading performers. I’ve also worked as a vocal arranger and performed with a swing trio, though my passion has always been rooted in teaching and deepening my understanding of the voice.

I continue to perform, as I believe it’s important to stay active in the industry when teaching a creative subject. However, my primary focus is now on vocal pedagogy. I hold a BMus (Hons) in Vocal Studies from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and my specialist interest lies in vocal pedagogy, especially vocal health. I’m a qualified Vocal Health First Aider and am keen to continue my studies in voice rehabilitation. The voice is something we use every day, yet often only think about when something goes wrong. With the pressures placed on musical theatre performers and actors, I’m passionate about helping individuals understand and care for their own voices - empowering them to advocate for themselves in an area that’s frequently misunderstood by many in the industry.

My specialist knowledge has enabled me to work closely with active performers in the musical theatre industry, including those engaged in touring productions and cruise line entertainment

My career highlight is ongoing. I love seeing my students - past and present - grow in confidence, deepen their knowledge, and flourish in whichever direction they choose to take their careers.
