Guest tickets

Deadline: Tickets must be purchased by 4pm, Monday, 9th of March

You are advised to book and pay for your guest tickets when you register via the Ede and Ravenscroft website.

Anyone over 18 months old requires a ticket. The recommended age for the ceremony in the Swan Theatre is 5 years and above. All guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a guardian. Guests do not sit with graduating students, so the graduating student cannot count as the adult responsible for any children.

Children under 18 months old do not require a ticket, but must be with an adult holding a valid ticket. Must be with an adult who holds a valid guest ticket.

The ceremony in the Swan is not recommended for infants and young children under the age of 5 years old. We recognise you may wish your children to attend your graduation but the ceremony is not aimed at children so they may find it challenging to sit through the speeches or become overwhelmed with the loud noise during the clapping/cheering. Please think carefully about if your child(ren) will be able to sit through the ceremony, which will be approximately an hour.

Children cannot be supervised by or sit with graduating students. If a graduating student attends on their own with children who must be accompanied by an adult (so children under the age of 16 years old), they will not be able to attend their ceremony as the children cannot be left unaccompanied and we do not offer a childcare facility.

Any child over the age of 18 months is not allowed to sit on a lap and must purchase additional tickets. If a venue is sold out, the adult guest will not be able to attend as there is no childcare facility.

Children are not provided refreshment tokens for the celebration.

Additional tickets, above your initial allocation may be available for your ceremony but please note this is not guaranteed. If extra tickets are available, they can be purchased on a first come first served basis on the day of your ceremony during your registration period.

Graduating students do not sit with their guests.

We will try to ensure family groups sit together, although we cannot guarantee this if your guests require special access, or you purchase additional tickets later in the process.

Should you wish separate seating for your guests in different parts of the theatre, please let us know during the booking process and by emailing graduation@bnu.ac.uk. Whilst we will try to accommodate this, we cannot guarantee it.

A ticket for a graduating student or their guest is £20.

This ticket includes entry to the celebration afterwards and refreshments.

Children under 18 months do not require a ticket.

You will receive both your own, and your guest tickets at Registration on the day of your ceremony; they will not be posted in advance. Please keep your tickets safe as you will need them to access the venues.

If you have any technical issues whilst booking your tickets, gown hire or photography, please contact Ede and Ravenscroft directly either via their online contact form or calling them on 01223 734759.

If you think you are eligible to graduate and have tried to register but were unable to, please contact the graduation team viagraduation@bnu.ac.uk or calling 01494 603 091. Please note email is the preferred communication method. If you would prefer to call us but have not been able to get through, please email us requesting a call back.

For further information on access requirements please see the additional support page.

Please include your full name, Student ID number, ceremony you were due to attend and a summary of the tickets and gown you ordered. Please note these refunds will be processed by the end of August 2025.

Please ensure you request your refund by the deadlines as refunds will not be possible after these dates. Bookings cannot be transferred to a future graduation ceremony.

All graduating students and all guests should please ensure they are respectful to all staff involved with graduation. We recognise that there may be situations that require resolving and we will do our best to do so as quickly and professionally as possible. Please do not take out any frustrations or disappointment you may have on staff as they are only doing their job.

Any children that attend graduation are the responsibility of the adults they are with, who should ensure they are supervised at all times. If children become loud during the graduation ceremony in the Swan Theatre, please take them out to the foyer so as not to disturb the ceremony.
