BNU partners with local business Foam Engineers on Accelerated Knowledge Transfer project

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) is partnering with High Wycombe SME Foam Engineers on an Accelerated Knowledge Transfer (AKT) project.

Funded in part by Innovate UK Business Connect as part of the University’s Knowledge Exchange programme, the AKT will see BNU and Foam Engineers work together on an industry focused research project.

Matt Wright, Commercial Director at Foam Engineers, said: “This fits perfectly in line with our business ethos and drive to continually innovate and expand the business, and offers Foam Engineers a fantastic opportunity for further collaboration with BNU, our local university.

“We will benefit from support from the university as we collaborate on topics such as technology, innovation and sustainability. We are in the first stages of the project, working with academics, research assistants, senior lecturers and associates in their professional fields. It will enable Foam Engineers to accelerate our plans to invest in our business with new machines and products further expanding our offering and technical knowledge.

“This funding is significant for an SME such as Foam Engineers as this allows us the freedom and flexibility to develop and grow, research new technologies, maintain relationships with our stakeholders and improve our job offering and profitability.”

Accelerated Knowledge Transfer’s concept is to deliver a rapid and targeted intervention to accelerate the evaluation or development of an innovation project or concept, which has the potential for significant impact for the Business Partner.
