My BNU highlights

My BNU highlights

I am beyond grateful for all that I have experienced at BNU. It is an enormous gift to be surrounded by so much love and support at your university and I surely experienced that here at BNU.

Coming into University, I did not know what to expect. I simply hoped to enjoy my course and make good friends. Little did I know that my experience at BNU would change me for the better!

In my first year, I met one of my now best friends and through the Musical Theatre Society I met more people who soon became very close friends. Being in the MT society community and singing musicals numbers together was really such a sweet time full of great memories – like our attempt at dancing in a contemporary master class that the dance team held. I think we quickly all understood that dance isn’t just an activity but a sport!

Looking back, I can say first year was a time of highs and lows as life usually is, however, the highlights make it all the better and my time at the SU events, were a treasure! Waved was a great way to meet more friends who were from a similar ethnic background as we danced to songs that were on rotation on our playlist.

Journeying into second year my biggest highlight was going to a Musical Theatre competition in Warwick University and re-starting the Christian Union society, which hadn’t been active for a few years. It was such a gift to connect with other people from the same faith or who were interested in knowing more about Christianity.

Third year was quite challenging as the workload intensified but that did not stop me and my friends from having fun. The Christian Union was able to put on a concert, go to several events in London and host fun game and movie nights! I got to connect with students from different courses and nationalities as a result of the societies I was a part of, which was such a pleasure. And although brilliant events and societies at BNU were not the only thing I enjoyed.

I stayed in student accommodation for my full time at BNU and I had amazing experiences with flatmates who turned into best friends. We celebrated birthdays, decorated our flat for Christmas, had late night jam sessions and nights where we cooked for one another and watched movies. We cherished our friendships so much that when we came back from holidays, we would come back with gifts for each other with form our home countries.

BNU was not what I expected, it completely exceeded my expectations. I am grateful for the connections I made at university and all the roles I additionally took part in such as working with the incredible Student Ambassador team and working at the SU’s student Lounge and Venue. It was honestly like working with family full of memories I will never forget - I am beyond grateful for all that I have experienced at BNU. It is an enormous gift to be surrounded by so much love and support at your university and I surely experienced that here at BNU.
