Hajrija Dergic
Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, I was working with small and medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and have developed a strong research portfolio in business and marketing support. Success with SMEs has been with connecting them with vital stakeholders within the local business community, especially European funded business projects, which have also benefitted from my support within the West Midlands. This has provided a crucial role in the development and delivery of business marketing and growth strategies for the SMEs, contributing to enhancing their performance. My work on European funded projects has seen collaboration between local businesses and Housing Associations in developing their products and services to reduce carbon usage and improve the existing housing stock. Currently, I serve as a Non-Executive Director at Wolverhampton Homes, specifically within the Communities and Services Team. I also utilise my skills in marketing and sustainability to enhance the organisation's business operations, while simultaneously informing my own practices at the University.
I studied for my BA in Business and Marketing Management, and MSc in Marketing at the University of Wolverhampton, and am currently pursuing a PhD in Marketing, I am a Senior Fellow of the HEA and Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
I have organised and executed successful large-scale events including; conventions, conferences and exhibitions, as well as small scale technology showcases and training workshops. I launched the successful Women in Business initiative at the University of Wolverhampton which strived to promote equality and diversity, as well as attracting business professionals, academics and sponsorship investment. My career highlight was being awarded the 'Vice Chancellor's Award for: "Excellence in Valuing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion’’ for continued work championing Women in Business.
