Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University full time in 2023, I was an associate lecturer at while working as a district nurse team manager and practice assessor.

I qualified as an RN from University College Hospital in 1988. I then worked in hospitals until 1990 when I joined community nursing. I have worked as a RN, district nurse team manager, specialist community practice teacher, practice supervisor and assessor and a general practice nurse until I retired in December 2020. I returned to practice and now work part time as a district nurse, supporting across the community teams. I support newly qualified nurses and provide personal development support for other individuals within the teams.

I was honoured to be awarded the Queen’s Nursing Award in 2013. I have also been an active member of the RCN DN and Community Nurse Forum Steering Group for the past 4 years and have recently been reselected for a further 4 years. I am a QNI Leader, which has encouraged me to widen my influence and use my voice. I recently achieved a PGCE in Practice Education as I wanted to further develop my teaching skills and have now joined the Community Nursing Team as a Senior Lecturer.
