The Tactical Athlete Performance Centre (TAPC) aims to enhance the education, health, and occupational performance of those who work in extremis contexts through the fusion of educational innovation, pragmatic applied research, and the development of mutually beneficial partnerships.
The scope of services provided by TAPC is wide-ranging and predominantly aimed at tactical organisations including:
- Military
- Police
- Fire Service
- Paramedicine
- Mountain Rescue
- Coast Guard
- Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Emergency Response Charities
About the TAPC
- Aimed exclusively at those who work in extremis contexts (i.e, military, fire service, police, emergency medicine).
- Builds upon our BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning in Tactical Populations (For military PTI’s only) through a new MSc in Human Performance Optimisation (HPO) programme.
- Capability to develop bespoke HPO educational packages specific to the needs of your organisation.

Education
Through our BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning in Tactical Populations and MSc in HPO programmes, TAPC provides education and training to the military and emergency services. Furthermore, with the ability to draw on service experience, the latest research, and a framework of national and international collaborators, TAPC can customise HPO education and training products to meet the needs of your organisation.
Research
Using our state-of-art Human Performance Laboratory (HPL), TAPC aims to conduct applied, low-risk research which directly supports the psychological, cognitive and physiological development of those who work in extremis contexts.
Consultancy
Representing BNU's commitment to partnership, TAPC is keen to develop collaborative partnerships and provide consultancy services to the military, government organisations, industry partners, and academic institutions.
