Nigel Allen's story
Nigel Allen's story
The most surprising part of the course was how helpful all the staff were. I cannot fault any of them for how they helped me through the three years.
Nigel Allen, an IT & Cloud Services Manager for leading specialist training company ATE Enterprises, says he was 'hugely impressed' by the quality of teaching, and support from Bucks Students' Union, offered at BNU.
Nigel studied BSc (Hons) Computing and says the skills learnt on his degree have stood him in good stead as his career has progressed.
'I was very well prepared for work as we had studied a work-based project in the second year which gave me valuable experience and I was also helped with CV writing which helped tremendously when applying for work,' says Nigel.
He says the University's location in High Wycombe was perfect for him and he was already familiar with the Students' Union before starting his degree.
'I felt at ease the whole time,' he says. 'Right from the start, everyone was very helpful and I didn’t feel daunted by University at all, despite not knowing anybody else at the time.'
Nigel says his 'best bits' were earning various technologies within different course modules, alongside working with fellow students in 'very enjoyable classes'.
'The dissertation was the most challenging part,' he adds. 'But I got through it with excellent help from fellow students and lecturers. The most surprising part of the course was how helpful all the staff were. I cannot fault any of them for how they helped me through the three years.'
Nigel says he is proud of the excellent lecturers and facilities at Bucks. 'The whole three years was enjoyable both from an academic and social point,' he says.
I would recommend BNU because for me it was a great experience. The university offers some brilliant perks, a lot of which are not available at other universities. You will receive continued support from lecturers who make the subject matter enjoyable whilst also making sure you understand all the aspects of the course.
