Man talking with hands up

BNU's Parapsychology expert Dr Ciarán O’Keeffe appears in BBC limited series

Parapsychology expert and Head of School for Human and Social Sciences at Buckinghamshire New University, Dr Ciarán O’Keeffe, shares his expertise in the limited TV series of the popular Uncanny podcast.

The series follows the successful podcast where the host Danny Robbins investigates chilling first-hand stories of paranormal encounters.

The Uncanny series is about people’s haunting experiences, about hearing their stories. As a long-term collaborator of Danny Robins, the writer, presenter, and creative mind behind the show, I have been given the wonderful opportunity to talk about the Psychology (and Parapsychology) of such events and, as a result, bring an audience’s attention to my published research at BNU.

It has also provided me with amazing insight into people’s fascination with the paranormal and our obsession with the unknown - one of the oldest curiosities that we have –what happens to us when we die? Is there an afterlife, do we turn into ghosts? I meet people all the time who are intensely curious about what they see as the unknown or the ‘dark side’ and that drives them to experience situations that are uncomfortable or scary.
