BNU inspires future talent at Bucks Skills Show
Thousands of potential new students got a glimpse of what BNU has to offer at this year's Bucks Skills Show.
The event, which took place on 4-5 March at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury, attracted more than 6,000 visitors including teachers from 47 schools, alongside parents, adult learners and young people exploring their future pathways.
Visitors engaged well with a variety of hands-on activities designed to bring learning to life including CPR simulations and clinical skills in health subjects, alongside immersive experiences in animation, film, game art and creative disciplines. Subjects including law, business, aviation, education and global security also drew crowds, with some fun discussions and interactive challenges. A ‘guess the criminal’ activity exploring confirmation bias was especially popular!
Overall we had some very positive feedback, with visitors praising the interactive nature of BNU’s stands - particularly in health and creative subject areas.
Speaking on the event, Dr Russel Stone, Dean of the College of Creative Arts, Technology and Engineering, said: “Amazing energy from students exploring careers in creative arts, technology and engineering,” while Praneta Pareek, Lecturer in Aviation, said: “Proud to represent the Leadership and Innovation College showcasing the world of aviation through interactive activities and conversations about global career opportunities. The curiosity and enthusiasm from the next generation was truly energising.”
Suzanne Doria, Senior Lecturer in Business, Management and Marketing said: “We were so impressed by the enthusiastic contributions from Year 9 to Year 13 students. It was encouraging to see their interest in business‑related subjects, and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome some of them to BNU in the future.”
Recognising the importance of events like this, BNU was proud to be a Partner Sponsor, contributing to another successful show and strengthening connections with local schools and the wider community.
