A Midwifery Graduate's Reflections

A Midwifery Graduate's Reflections

I still can’t quite believe it. BNU has been voted 1st in the South of England and 2nd in the entire UK for midwifery. To have played a part in something so groundbreaking at BNU fills me with pride beyond words.

I feel an overwhelming sense of pride, gratitude, and awe to have walked this path. Being part of BNU’s very first midwifery cohort wasn’t just about learning the craft. It was a powerful, personal journey through uncertainty, perseverance, and growth. We were pioneers, and with every challenge we faced, the university stood beside us. Our voices were heard, not just acknowledged, but valued. When change was needed, it happened. That’s rare. That’s remarkable.

To our incredible lecturing team. You have carried us through, even as the demands grew heavier. Your belief in us never wavered. You saw potential when we doubted ourselves, and you gave us the courage to rise. Your dedication didn’t just shape midwives, it shaped people. I can’t thank you enough. I am forever grateful to you for all you have done for me.

And to all the other teams, such as the academic staff, the wellbeing support, and library teams, you were the quiet pillars beneath our feet. Your support lifted me through moments when I didn’t think I could stand.

I’m walking away from this not just with a degree, but with a family, a purpose, and the pride of knowing I helped pave the way for those yet to come. Thank you, BNU, for believing in us before we even knew how to believe in ourselves.
