Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in2024, I was at DeMontfort University in Leicester for 4 years and prior to that at the University of Leicester, where I also gained my Doctorate. (DPhil) I pride myself of providing an excellent student learning experience and at the University of Leicester (2016) was awarded member of staff to best make ‘a difference to students’ academic experience’, I have also been awarded 2 students union awards for supporting students.
I studied for my BA(Hons) in Politics and Economic History, MA in international Security and DPhil at the University of Leicester, although there was a significant gap between my BA and MA during which I worked as a Business Development Manager and managed a large team over two sites. I am currently working towards my Senior Followship of the Higher Education Academy. My specialist area of interest/research is in International Security and International Development. I am particularly interested in cross-border development corridors and their relationship to the African Continental Free Trade Area.
I am a member of the Higher Education Academy and hold FHEA.
My specialist knowledge has led me to work with the Maputo Development Corridor Logistics Initiative (MCLI), the World Bank and DfID (UK).
The greatest and perhaps most unusual career highlight to date has been travelling to South Africa to deliver my doctoral finding to the Stakeholders of the MCLI, several of whom I interviewed early on in my PhD research during my time in South Africa and Mozambique.
