Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2020, I served as a practice Educator in the NHS. My areas of specialisation are physical health training, practice assessor, and practice supervisor training. In addition, I provided support for student nurses in practice. In previous employment, I served in different roles such as a team leader in mental health rehabilitation services, as a senior community mental health practitioner, ward manager and ECT manager. Among my international experience is my service as Director of Nursing Education at Montego Bay Community College, Jamaica.

I completed my Master of Arts Education, PGCE and BSC Nursing studies at Buckinghamshire University College. I received my initial nursing certification (RGN) at Kingston School of Nursing, Jamaica.

After working in clinical practice, including working as sign-off mentor and lead Mentor for over 10 years, I decided to return to education – my first professional passion. I find it very rewarding to support students to develop their competence to become qualified nurses.

My professional affiliations include registration with Royal College of Nursing and the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a practice educator/lecturer/teacher, RGN, RNMH.

My dual certification as RGN and RNMH has qualified me to work within specialist areas in both adult and mental nursing such as in specialist ECT nursing and physical health nursing.
