Lynsey McLeish is Head of Skills and Simulation Practice (Health and Social Care) at Buckinghamshire New University, with responsibility for the strategic leadership, governance and delivery of clinical skills and simulation based education across health care programmes programmes. She leads the design, implementation and evaluation of simulated practice learning that strengthens practice readiness, supports placement capacity and enhances the student experience, working in partnership with academic teams, clinical providers and external stakeholders.
An intensive care nurse by background, Lynsey served in the Royal Air Force for 13 years with the Critical Care Air Support Team (CCAST), undertaking global critical care retrieval and subsequently becoming Lead CCAST Instructor. In this role she developed and delivered high fidelity simulation and training for multidisciplinary teams, including senior clinicians, in complex and high pressure environments.
Lynsey holds an MSc in Medical Education and is currently studying for a PhD evaluating the impact of simulation based education on patient safety and care outcomes in pre registration nursing practice, with a focus on how simulation design and debriefing translate into safer behaviours in clinical placements.
