Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023, I was working at the University of Wolverhampton as a Senior Lecturer in Finance and a course leader for the finance related undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for over 8 years.

I completed my MSc in Banking and Finance and PhD at Middlesex University. My thesis investigated the impact of credit rating on the leverage of UK firms. I have also completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and Professional Practice at the University of Wolverhampton, and I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

My main research interest is in the area of corporate finance, banking regulation and supervision, and corporate governance. It is interesting because it allows for an in-depth examination of the events, such as the financial crisis, Brexit vote, the pandemic and political instability, that have led to the use of unconventional tools of monetary policy, and has triggered substantial changes in financial regulation to restore financial and economic stability. In my research, I use Financial Databases (DataStream, Bureau Van Dijk) and statistical packages (IBM SPSS, STATA, EViews).

One of my recent career highlights is the successful completion and graduation of one of my PhD students, whose thesis investigates the impact of sustainability committee characteristics on corporate sustainability performance of the UK listed firms.
