Kamil Bilski's story
Graduate, Kamil Bilski, recently sat down and shared his experience as an international student studying BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance with Foundation Year at BNU.
After being offered an unconditional offer to study with us, Kamil jumped at the chance. He said ‘I took it as a sign that this was where I was meant to be, a chance to become the first person in my family not only to complete university, but to do so in a foreign language. And I was right. BNU and all those wonderful people I met during my four-year journey helped me grow in ways I could never have imagined.’
At BNU we put our students at the forefront of everything we do, we believe with the right support and guidance our students will be empowered to grow and achieve their own successes. Kamil shared he initially fell in love with BNU for this very reason.
BNU offered me a unique opportunity that other universities didn’t. I felt that Buckinghamshire New University believed in me. That belief along with my determination and the support of my teachers, meant I could succeed, and I did. I earned a first-class degree!
When we asked Kamil what he loved most about studying at BNU, he stated that the teaching he had over the four years was outstanding ‘their support and kindness in using their time to help me, guide me, read my work many times to give me extra feedback, advise, or explain something again meant the world to me. I’ve never met such dedicated and helpful people. Without their support, I wouldn’t have completed my course and achieved a first-class degree.’
He went on to say ‘thanks to my course and the insights I received from my teachers, I also began investing, and my portfolio continues to grow. I believe the Accounting and Finance course is not just about accounting, it’s about understanding finance, which is crucial in todays society.’
Kamil went on to share that if anyone was considering a career in Accounting and finance, that this degree at BNU is the perfect foundation ‘I would recommend my course without any doubt. It provided me with a solid understanding of accounting concepts essential for working as an accountant. Moreover, I gained valuable knowledge that will help me open my own business in the future.’
The course helped him secure his first role within the industry and continues to help him in his day-to-day. ‘My course, along with the teachers and the people I met, helped boost my confidence significantly. As a result, I managed to secure my first job in accounting while still in the second semester of my first academic year.’
