Dr Xiangyu Wu

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in early 2023, I was a Postgraduate Dissertation Supervisor at the University of York as well as a Teaching Assistant at Durham University Business School. I also worked as a Senior Consultant of Operational Risk Management in China.

I studied for an MSc in Banking and Finance at the University of Surrey before completing a PhD in Finance at Durham University. My specialist area of interest and research is risk management, risk mitigation, Game Theory, Network Theory and Banking. It is interesting because modern economic systems are integrated instead of isolated. The complexity of such systems require new approaches to analyse interactions between behaviors, endowment and welfare. The development of game theory and network theory provides new methodology and understanding of such complex interactions.

I am a member of the American Finance Association and British Accounting and Finance Association.

My career highlight to date is that students studying a Masters degree at a Russel Group University under my supervision, have all successfully passed and over half of them have achieved a Merit. I enjoy seeing students exceeding their potential and growing personally.
