Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2023 I was working full time clinically as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Respiratory. The recent pandemic was obviously a very challenging time for respiratory care but opportunities and learning always rise out of challenges faced. I have worked in Respiratory Physiotherapy specifically for nearly 10 years, across 3 acute hospital trusts, with a particular interest in NIV (Non Invasive Ventilation), respiratory physiology and relevant clinical imaging (Chest X ray and CT).

Being part time at BNU, I keep my clinical skills up to date with my other time working for Ashford and St Peters Hospitals Trust (ASPH), in Chertsey, Surrey. I have previously worked in this Trust as a Respiratory Rotational Physiotherapist and was pleased to be able to return to it now, in my current role.

I studied for my BSc Physiology at Leicester University in 2003 and later, a MSc in Rehabilitation Science down in Brighton University, graduating in 2008.

I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and hold my professional registration under the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am also a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care, or the ACPRC for short! Like many specialist Physiotherapy bodies, it is an excellent forum for ongoing professional study, content and current opportunities.

Some of my clinical work has taken me to present at a few international events, including BTS abstract awards, Amsterdam 2016 for work on Oxygen Prescription. More recently, we at ASPH have become one of the first local Trusts to utilise Transcutaneous CO2 (tco2) Monitoring in assessing and weaning patients requiring Acute NIV treatment.
