Biography
  • Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2015 I started my career as a rotational physiotherapist in the NHS and in 1997, changed career direction to work in professional football full-time (as a physiotherapist) until 2015.  I worked for several clubs including West Bromwich Albion FC (youth team physiotherapist), Oxford United FC (1st team physiotherapist), Arsenal FC (1st team physiotherapist) and Norwich City FC (Head of Medical) and I have also worked for international men’s youth teams including the England Men’s u17s and U18s teams and the Football Association of Wales Men’s u17 and u19 teams.

I studied for my BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at the University of Brighton and have subsequently gained an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and a PGCLT in Higher Education from BNU.  My specialist area of interest is sports physiotherapy and the use of medication in sport and related to this, I recently qualified as a non-medical HCP prescriber from BNU.  In addition to my teaching role at BNU, I provide a physiotherapy service to a number of talented elite young athletes as part of BNU’s partnership with TASS (Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme).  I continue to have associations with professional football as tutor for the English Football Association and Football Association of Wales medical faculties, teaching on the level four advanced trauma courses and also as a consultant team physiotherapist for the Football Association of Wales youth teams.

It is interesting because I love working with athletes and supporting them in achieving their sporting goals and being the best athlete that they can be.

I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with many high-profile international professional football players and my career highlight to date is working as team physiotherapist for England under 17s Men’s football team at the u17s World Cup in Chile in 2015 and at the European Championship Finals in Azerbaijan in 2016.
